ANNA NORDQVIST NAMED EUROPEAN CAPTAIN FOR SOLHEIM CUP 2026
We’re proud to see our ambassador Anna Nordqvist taking on the prestigious role of European team captain for the 2026 Solheim Cup, set to take place at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands from September 7–13.
A three-time major champion and one of Europe’s most accomplished golfers, Anna brings a wealth of experience to the role, having played in eight Solheim Cups and contributing to four European victories. Her leadership qualities, competitive spirit and deep understanding of team dynamics make her the perfect choice to lead Team Europe as they prepare to defend their title in 2026.

What does it mean to you to be named captain for Team Europe in the Solheim Cup 2026?
It's an incredible honor. The Solheim Cup has been a significant part of my career, and to lead Team Europe is a dream come true. I’ve played alongside some incredible teammates and under inspiring captains, and I hope to bring that same level of passion, leadership and belief in 2026. I'm excited about the opportunity and ready to give my all to help the team succeed.
You’ve played in multiple Solheim Cups – how will that experience shape your leadership?
I think it helps me better understand the dynamics and pressures of the event. I know what it takes to win, but also how important team chemistry and preparation are.This experience will help me support and guide the team effectively, and make sure we're united and focused on our goals.
What kind of captain do you want to be?
I aim to be a supportive and approachable captain. I believe in open communication, creating a positive environment where each player feels valued and motivated to perform at their best.It’s my job to make sure they have what they need to succeed. I’ll also lean on my vice captains and create a strong leadership team that helps our players feel comfortable and confident throughout the week.
What are you most looking forward to about leading the team in Holland?
There’s nothing like a Solheim Cup in Europe. The home crowd energy is something truly special, and I can’t wait to see the fans rally behind us in Holland. Playing for your continent is different from anything else in golf. It’s about team spirit, national pride and those moments that stay with you forever. To be able to lead Team Europe on home soil will be an unforgettable experience.
What will be your biggest challenge as captain?
Balancing emotions and managing expectations. The Solheim Cup is so intense, and every player wants to give their all. It’s important to keep everyone focused, even when things don’t go as planned. Golf is unpredictable, and part of my role is making sure we stay positive and adaptable no matter what happens on the course. I believe that understanding and trust within the team will help us overcome any obstacles.
What message do you have for European golf fans ahead of the Solheim Cup 2026?
Get ready! We’re going to bring everything we have to Holland. And also – we need you! The fans play such a huge role in making this event what it is. The passion and energy lift the players and make a real difference. The Solheim Cup is about teamwork, and I can't wait to see the European fans bring that energy to Bernardus Golf.
