By bridging sport and fashion, we get to work with the best of two worlds. Mixing the functionality and craftsmanship of sports fabrics with the luxury of fashion. Quality is the common ground, and all components for each garment are chosen carefully. We work with the best fabric and trims suppliers globally to ensure quality and performance in functionality and sustainability. Always promoting suppliers with environmental programs and certifications related to health and the environment. We never settle for good enough and we keep asking ourselves the most important question: how can we do better?
form and function
Our technical garments are made to endure the toughest weather with chilly temperatures, heavy rain, snowfall and wind. Superlight, stretchy, high-quality materials that combine style with the most technically advanced outdoor gear available. Quick-dry, waterproof, windproof, breathability are a few of the features we test for maximum performance. We choose the best suppliers of tech-materials and always strive to minimize the use of hazardous chemicals throughout production.
We exclusively use Mulesing-free wool in our Merino wool products. The wool originates from farms that respect international standards and regulations related to animal welfare. The wool is partly spun in one of the oldest and most esteemed textile mills in northern Italy, Tollegno, where they have spun yarns for more than 100 years. We strive to enforce the use of recycled wool when it doesn’t conflict with quality and appearance. Our Wolger and Melton coats are made from 65% recycled wool, Cardato certified, made in Prato, Italy. Our wool products are mainly stitched and manufactured in Italy and Bulgaria.
We use Primaloft insulation, which is water repellent, lightweight and breathable, keeping you warm in up to -40 C. A perfect down substitute that is both human and animal friendly. We use Primaloft Black Eco in most of our active and men’s lines, which is made from post-consumer materials and fabric rests in factories. We are continuously working towards increasing the amount of recycled fabrics in our collections.
We only use traceable down from the renowned brand Allied Feather, a company that only sources traceable down with full insight in the supply-chain. All the way from welfare of the animals and sourcing of suppliers to climate-controlled storage and allergy testing. They are Bluesign® approved to ensure that the final textile product meets stringent consumer safety and sustainability requirements worldwide.
We are determined to reduce our environmental impact and therefore strive to introduce more sustainable cotton wherever we can, given that we are able to guarantee the same high-quality requirements as for our other products. We are introducing organic cotton in our upcoming jeans collection and will continue to introduce it across all collections.
durable water repellency
Our sportswear need to have excellent performance, be very durable and stand all weather conditions that nature brings us. One important parameter is water repellency. We have faced out long chain fluorocarbon treatment (C8) since many years, in favor for the short chain fluorocarbon treatment (C6). Unfortunately, we have not yet found a satisfying alternative which is fluorocarbon free.
We are continuously looking for a treatment that doesn’t compromise on our garments performance. In our Fashion outerwear, which are not used in the same extreme conditions, we have phased out C6 completely.
J.Lindeberg banned exotic fur in 2018 and FW19 collection was the first one without exotic fur. We use leather and other material of animal origin. J.Lindeberg and our suppliers adhere to a strict animal welfare policy based on the 5 freedoms. We are together with our suppliers increasing traceability every season, important steps forward but the industry still has more to do. The leather J.Lindeberg uses is a bi-product from food production.
The bluesign® system is the solution for a sustainable textile production. It eliminates harmful substances right from the beginning of the manufacturing process and sets and controls standards for an environmentally friendly and safe production. This not only ensures that the final textile product meets very stringent consumer safety requirements worldwide but also provides confidence to the consumer to acquire a sustainable product. We want as many of our suppliers and fabrics as possible to be Bluesign approved.
The Oeko-Tex® 100 standard has requirements for the final product and aims to guarantee that products are free of harmful substances and therefore safe for human health and the environment too. We want as many of our suppliers and fabrics as possible to be certified by Oeko-Tex 100.
